Speech

4. The LSS sends home a "Permission to Assess" form if further testing is needed.

5. The LSS evaluates the child once the "Permission to Assess" form is signed and returned. The LSS has 50 calendar days to complete testing and hold an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) meeting with the parents.

6. Speech/language therapy begins if the student qualifies and the parents have signed the IEP.

Note: To qualify for language therapy, students must be at least 1.5 standard deviations below themean, or below the 7th percentile on two or more formal tests of language skills. (With children for whom formal tests are inappropriate, the IEP team makes a decision regarding placement without formal scores.)
